What exactly is the "SCC"?
The SCC, or School Community Council, works to give advice and suggestions to the Principal on a variety of topics. We raise funds for such things as school trips, musical instruments, awards, organized treats for play days and other school events and contributed funds to scientists in the school, Smart Boards, mathletes, anti-bullying productions and other programs which the school would otherwise not have been able to provide.
We run special events for the entire school community, including families. These events include an annual fall BBQ, monthly family sports nights, bingo nights, games nights, themed dances, and whatever else we can do to bring our community together!
We also promote all of the great things going on at Williamsburg, including reaching out to local newspapers such as Whitby This Week and Snap! And, we apply for various grants from a variety of sources to bring all sorts of things into the school.
How Do I Get Involved?
Come on out to a meeting, and see firsthand what we're all about. Meeting are open to all parents, and babysitting is provided for your school-aged children. You're welcome to listen, or better yet, offer any thoughts you have on whatever topic is being discussed. If you have something on your mind, let us know ahead of time and we'll look at adding your item to an agenda - it's that simple!
