Whitby Shores Public School
On the Trail to Learning, Caring and Action
School Information
Whitby Shores Public School is a part of the Durham District School Board. Situated in the Town of Whitby, east of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, our elementary school is located at 485 Whitby Shores Greenway near Lynde Marsh, Whitby Harbour and the shores of Lake Ontario. We have approximately 650 students in grades Kindergarten to 8.

The school’s setting provides students with excellent opportunities to learn how to make a difference in their community and build a strong environmental ethic. The building design includes an east-west orientation to maximize the use of sunlight as well solar-thermal water heating, a heat recovery unit, sun tunnels in the gym and a glass clerestory to allow natural light into the building. The school grounds incorporate landscaping with generous tree plantings, berms and four ‘outdoor classrooms.’

As with all of Durham’s schools, we are committed promoting student achievement and discovery, implementing equitable principles and practices and ensuring openness, accountability and safety.
The school’s motto is, “On the Trail to Learning, Caring and Action”.
