Student Parliament is an elected and appointed body of students responsible for many social and civic events at Sinclair. Each year, Student Parliament runs activities for students including grade 9 orientation, dances, coffee house talent shows, video game competitions, and lunch-time events. Student Parliament also works to connect all of the different clubs and committees at Sinclair to help promote teamwork and success for all of the groups. Each spring, a group of ministers are elected by the student body, who then select grade representitives to join the team. Look in the spring for announcements regarding application forms. Mr. Emes is always happy to provide information about what the group does and how to join.
In an effort to assist Student Parliament in creating and running successful events at Sinclair, there are the Advertising and Events committees. Run by elected members from Parliament, these groups brainstorm and plan events; as well as devises creative ways to promote them. The Advertising and Events committees are a great way to get a taste of what Student Parliament does and to help promote spirit at Sinclair! Every Monday after school, both groups meet in room 214. New members are welcome at any time of year.
Mr. Emes, Ms. Heenan, and Ms. Gilmour are the student parliament staff advisors.
