Regular Class with Indirect Support

The student is placed in a regular class for the entire day and the teacher receives specialized consultative services. Using the Resource-Based Model, the Special Education Resource teacher works with identified students to help them meet with the success in the regular classroom.


Special Education Class With Partial Integration

The student is placed by the IPRC in a special class where the pupil / teacher ratio conforms to Regulation 298, section 31, for at least 50 percent of the school day, but is integrated with a regular class for at least one instruction period daily.

       ​ This program is accessed through the Whitby Area Facilitator. Students in this program must present with two or more areas of exceptionalities as defined by the IPRC. Students work toward an Ontario Secondary School Certificate.​​​

Special Education Class Full-Time

The student is placed by the IPRC in a special education class, where the student teacher ratio conforms to Regulation 298, section31, for the entire school day. The main thrust of the program is a Life Skills approach for students with intellectual and or developmental delays. Students work toward a Certificate of Accomplishment.

IPRC Meetings

In accordance with the Ministry of Education regulations, all parents are to be informed that a review is taking place and that you are welcome to attend. Every student in a special education placement must have his/her placement reviewed annually.
