FOOD AND NUTRITION – HFN 20
Welcome to Food and Nutrition! This course focuses on guidelines for making nutritious food choices. In this course, students will investigate factors that influence food choices, including beliefs, attitudes, current trends, traditional eating patterns, food-marketing strategies, and individual needs. Students will also explore the environmental impact of a variety of food choices at the local and global level. The course also provides students with opportunities to develop food-preparation skills and introduces them to the use of social science research methods in the area of food and nutrition.
When you walk away from this course, you will have the skills and knowlege you need to eat well now and for the rest of your life.

Clothing HNL 2O1
This course introduces students to the world of clothing. Students will gain knowledge about clothing and demonstrate basic sewing skills associated with various techniques and technologies used to create garments and accessories. Students will learn about the functions of clothing and accessories and what clothing communicates about the wearer. They will learn how to enhance their personal wardrobe by asessing garment quality, developing shopping strategies, and developing and understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of various retail formats .Students will develop research skills as they investigate topics related to clothing.
As this is a beginner sewing skills class, students will be expected to complete a variety of clothing projects. The development of techniques will be emphasized throughout this course and the projects have been chosen to allow the student to develop the skills for these techniques in which they can build on in the grade 11 and 12 Fashion courses.
