Ormiston Public School is located in north Whitby and has a student population of approximately 360 Full Day Kindergarten to Grade 8 students. The school staff of 23 experienced teachers, 3 Early Childhood Educators and 6 educational assistants are committed to providing students with the tools and skills necessary for lifelong learning. In addition to our 16 regular classes, we have one Special Education Junior/Intermediate Practical Learning Program Class for students with specific needs. In our evolving model for the delivery of Special Education services, we have two Special Education Resource Teachers who support both our staff and students.
At Ormiston we emphasize:

There has always been a strong focus on academic skills, knowledge and values at Ormiston. The staff also provides extra-curricular opportunities such as school sport teams, bands, choirs and house league activities, as well as community service opportunities. We continue to work hard and take pride in providing well-rounded experiences for our students. Our school motto is "Cherish the Children, the Branches of Tomorrow".
Parents play a very active role at Ormiston. The strong partnership between home and school is developed through a variety of means. We have a busy School Community Council and a dedicated group of parent volunteers supporting our school programs. The staff, students and parents continue to work together to create a dynamic learning environment.
