"Together We Are" Family Empowerment Program and the Durham District School Board (DDSB)/School Community Council (SCC) Parent Engagement Office have partnered to provide a FREE six-week workshop series to Black families with children (age 6-11) living in the Durham Region. This program is supported by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, John Howard Society of Durham Region, and Side-by-Side Access Services. Each week children will be participating in fun and culturally relevant activities such as African drumming and dancing, while parents/guardians remain on-site to participate in facilitated conversations on culture and parenting.
The DDSB is committed to evolving our practices to support, enhance, celebrate and be responsive to the social and cultural realities of our students and families. It is important that parent voices are represented and heard.
Black families connect with the DDSB and celebrate their voice and culture
