Well-Being & Mental Health

Maintaining our commitment to fostering well-being for students and staff and based on feedback from staff, trustees, students, parents and the community, the
Well-Being and Mental Health Strategic Plan for 2018-2021 was developed.

The DDSB Well-Being Strategic Plan honours the work already being done in our system in the area of mental health and well-being and seeks to:

  • Strengthen the organizational conditions necessary to support a mentally healthy environment for all students
    and staff.

  • Build capacity in mental health awareness and literacy.

  • Strengthen engagement with students, families, staff,
    and our community.

  • Enhance collaboration with community partners in
    providing a system of care.

The DDSB values positive mental health as fundamental to student achievement and well-being. Well-being is a positive sense of self, spirit and belonging that we feel when our cognitive, emotional and physical needs are being met.

Schools are ideal settings to reduce stigma, promote positive mental health, build student social-emotional learning, identify students in need and connecting them to the pathways for service.

Well-Being, Everyone, Everyday

Like all school boards in Ontario, we have developed our Well-Being and Mental Health strategy to promote student mental health and well-being, under the guidance of the provincial School Mental Health Assist team.
